Elevate Inclusion Strategies delivers Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) services for a wide range of clients including national arts organizations, labour unions, the creative industries, corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. We are based in Vancouver, BC, but provide services across Canada and in the United States.

JEDI Trainer and Curriculum Developer Consultant Position

Our acclaimed justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion training offers foundational training as well as more advanced, in-depth courses. Our training division is undergoing significant growth and we are seeking experienced diversity educators to join our team of consultants.

We’d be interested in hearing from you if you:

  • Have a minimum of 2-5 years experience offering adult-based education workshops/ training — online and in-person on Justice, Equity, Decolonizing, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Are skilled in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Have experience in researching, writing, editing, and producing training materials for in person and/or virtual delivery.
  • Are comfortable working with a wide range of clients including government at all levels, large corporations, small and medium sized businesses, and not-for-profit agencies.
  • Are familiar and comfortable with the Zoom learning environment and other online and interactive platforms.

Required:

  • Strong experience in leading JEDI trainings with an intersectional lens for various diverse audiences and various sized groups (min 2 years).
  • Trained and have experience in conflict engagement and de-escalation practices.
  • Experienced in group facilitation and collaborative team practices.
  • Equipped with tools to lead open-minded, non-judgemental and strength-based discussions.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and restorative conversations.
  • Trauma informed.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and design.
  • Experience of delivering in person and virtual training.
  • Confident in using Zoom technology including breakout rooms, managing the chat feature, responding to questions from participants, and liaising with client representatives and co-hosts and tech-hosts.
  • Have experience administering polls within Zoom and using Miro, Jamboard, or other platforms to record notes from main group brainstorming sessions.
  • Are familiar with the Google Suite.
  • Skills in PowerPoint presentation and design.
  • Availability to work across time zones (some very early starts) and on some weekends.
  • Able to provide training in-person and virtually.
  • Willingness to travel by air or ground transport when in-person training resumes.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle when travel is required.
  • Valid liability insurance.
  • A valid work permit, if required

Education:

  • Formal or informal education in DEI, social sciences, human resources, or similar.
  • Training certification is a plus.

Work Location:

  • Virtual office
  • Training is currently all virtual via Zoom. In person training will resume when it is safe to do so.
  • All consultants must sign an NDA

Compensation: Competitive, to be negotiated.

Online Training Co-Hosts Casual/On-Call

Elevate provides online training and planning sessions. Our co-hosts support our consultants/facilitators who lead the training process.

We are looking for people who can support and facilitate complex, sometimes difficult, conversations around justice, equity, diversity and inclusion and can facilitate any group dynamics that may arise. You don’t have to be an expert in this work, but you do have to be comfortable holding and facilitating such conversations.

We’d be interested in hearing from you if you meet the following requirements:

  • Experienced in group facilitation and collaborative team practices.
  • Need to be comfortable and secure working in a support role.
  • Trained and/or have experience working within intersectional and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) principles.
  • Trained and/or have experience in conflict engagement and de-escalation practices.
  • Equipped with tools to lead open-minded, non-judgemental and strength-based discussions.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and restorative conversations.
  • Trauma informed.
  • Confident using Zoom technology including breakout rooms, managing the chat feature, responding to questions from participants, and liaising with the lead facilitator/organizer and tech-hosts.
  • Have experience administering polls within Zoom and using Miro, Jamboard, or other platforms to record notes from main group brainstorming sessions.
  • Are able to maintain a calm, pleasant, professional demeanour throughout sessions.
  • Are able to keep all interactions confidential (you will be asked to sign an NDA)
  • Willing to work across time zones, have some very early starts, and work some weekends.
  • A valid work permit, if required.

A wage of $50 per hour is offered.

Tech Hosts Casual/On-Call

Our tech-hosts support our facilitators and co-hosts to ensure that our Zoom training runs smoothly and participants get the most from the experience.

We’d be interested in hearing from you if you meet the following requirements:

  • Have strong understanding of the Zoom platform.
  • Have experience supporting Zoom training for large groups of people including preparing and managing break out rooms, managing the chat feature, and, when approved, recording the proceedings.
  • Are confident in troubleshooting on the spot (including by phone) with people experiencing tech issues.
  • Have experience administering polls within Zoom and using Miro or other platforms to record notes from main group brainstorming.
  • Have experience using Jamboard.
  • Are able to maintain a calm, pleasant, professional demeanour throughout sessions.
  • Able to keep all interactions confidential (you will be asked to sign an NDA).
  • Be willing to work across time zones, have some very early starts, and work some weekends.
  • A valid work permit, if required
